Colour Splash gel colours are made for bold, consistent colouring in all kinds of cake decorating. The concentrated gel blends smoothly into icings and pastes without watering them down, making it a great choice for buttercream, royal icing, fondant and modelling paste. The tube has a fine nozzle, so you can add small amounts at a time and build up to the shade you want.

These gels work well in cake batter too, giving vibrant colour with minimal impact on texture. They're especially useful to use in place of liquid based colours, where too much extra liquid would cause problems.

Hints and Tips

Start with a small amount of colour and mix it through thoroughly before adding more. Gels are very concentrated, and most shades will develop and become deeper or stronger over time. For stronger colours like red, navy or black, build the colour in layers and let the mix rest if time allows. If your buttercream softens while mixing, chill it briefly before piping.

How to Use

Cut the end of the tube to open, only cut the very end so that you can control the amount used. Squeeze a small amount into your icing or mix and stir until fully blended. Repeat as needed until the colour is even. Remember that colours take time to develop in thins like buttercream, so don't over do it, start off small and let it sit for a while to check the colour. Wipe the nozzle before replacing the cap and store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
